How to Bring a B-1 or WB Short-Term Visitor

All B-1/WB visitors who come to UCSF for more than two weeks for lecture/visit/interview/seminar/medical clerkship are given either:

• An employee designation or title; or
• A Special Studies status through Office of Admissions & Records (OAR)

For B-1 visitors staying more than two weeks, or who want a UCSF ID badge:

If the visit is 90 days or less: UCSF host unit can process the invitation letter (B-1/WB Sample of Invitation Letter), or request ISSO assistance. Upon the visitor’s arrival, they must immediately check in at ISSO.

For stays longer than 90 days, a different visa category should be considered.  Please, contact ISSO.
