ISSO English Conversation Classes

To help international students and scholars at UCSF achieve their Enlgish language goals, the ISSO offers a 55 minute English conversation each week (subject to instructor availability). Classes open to any and all international students or scholars at UCSF, regardless of their affiliation, as well a their spouse.

Each class is designed to be independent of each other so anyone can attend without having to worry about what was covered in the prior class or missing the next class. The primary goal of each class is to provide attendees with a judgement-free space to speak English freely and ask any questions about the language that arise in the course of class.

Registering for Class

No registration necessary however, if you're interested, please complete our interest form so we can include you in our class email list.

Class Organization

The primary focus of each class is English speaking and conversation.

Each week, the class teacher will facilitate a conversation around a specific topic. Participants can expect to be placed in smaller groups for a portion of the class followed by a larger group discussion.

Class Location and Dates

Based on feedback from international students and scholars at UCSF, English conversation classes will be held on Wednesdays, from 3pm to 4pm.

All classes will meet in the Rutter Center lounge (ground floor, across the lobby from the gym). Please note, this location may change depending on space availability. Any changes will be noted on this page and via the class communication channels.
