Dear Sir or Madam:

This letter verifies that Dr. Snowman is a Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Dr. Snowman is using his skills as a molecular biologist to do research on Mad Reindeer Disease in Dr. Frosty’s lab. This research will attempt to determine whether or not infectious particles known as “icicles” are present in blood-products and in tissues such as tonsils and lymph nodes. This study is in response to worldwide concern that reindeer products may be contaminated with these icicles. Dr. Snowman’s expertise will lead to a better method for diagnosing and curing the disease in humans. The author of eight publications, Dr. Snowman’s most recent paper on Mad Reindeer Disease will soon be published in the scientific journal Nature. Dr. Snowman is funded for his research through the [University of California, San Francisco, personal funds, and/or home government].

Dr. Snowman will be traveling abroad for vacation purposes [to attend a conference, to attend a wedding, and/or to visit a sick family member] and will be requesting a new visa to reenter the U.S. It is important for the Mad Reindeer Disease project that he returns to the U.S. as soon as possible. Any courtesies extended to Dr. Snowman would be greatly appreciated.

For additional information, please contact UCSF’s Services to International Students and Scholars Office at telephone: 415-476-1773 or fax: 415-476-8119.

Sincerely,

Dr. Snowflakes
