Automatic EAD Extensions

  • Questions Regarding I-9 Employment Eligibility: UCSF's HR, in collaboration with UCSF's Controllers Office, verifies I-9 documents to confirm OPT and OPT STEM employment eligibility. Unfortunately, ISSO is legally unable to advise on whether a foreign national is eligible for initial (OPT) or ongoing (OPT STEM) I-9 employment eligibility. 
  • UCSF HR Generalists: If uncertain if a foreign national is eligible for initial or ongoing employment, including for OPT and STEM recipients, HR generalists should check in with their HR Managers. HR Managers will collaborate with counterparts at UCSF's Controllers Office if the Generalist and Manager are unable to verify employment eligibility for I-9 purposes.
